Outdoor Dining Chair

Outdoor dining chair and table range

Outdoor dining chairs, with the tables that match them

This category holds twelve in-production dining models and sets: powder-coated aluminium and steel dining chairs, rope-weave and sling seating, and round or rectangular outdoor dining tables from 120 cm up to 280 cm extended. Chairs ship either stacking or knock-down, and a 40'HQ container takes from 160 of the larger tables to 1,220 chairs depending on the model and build you choose. Everything below is quoted from the current product data, not from a catalogue that has since been replaced.

  • Powder-coated aluminium and steel frames
  • Stacking and knock-down builds side by side
  • OEM and ODM: size, colour and logo

How to choose an outdoor dining chair in three decisions

Work in this order and the range narrows quickly. First, fix the covers you need to seat, because that decides the table size and therefore how many chairs fit the same container. Second, fix the frame: aluminium covers most of the range and suits coastal or poolside sites, while the two steel models exist for buyers who want a heavier feel in the hand. Third, fix the storage: a stacking chair costs less to assemble on site, while a knock-down chair packs flat and loads 300 more pieces into the same 40'HQ on the FHCH062. Colour and cushion fabric come last, and both are customisable.

Decide the covers first

A 120 cm round table is a four-cover table, a 210 cm rectangular table is a six-cover table, and the 220 cm table extended to 280 cm is where eight to ten covers become practical. Published set compositions in this range are four and six chairs.

Then the frame

Aluminium runs through FHCH063, FHCH047, FHCH052, FHCH078, FHCH079 and the table frames. Steel is used on FHCH057 and FHCH062. Both are powder coated; the difference is weight, feel and how the model reads in a scheme.

Then the build

Stacking stores in a corner between services; knock-down ships flat and cuts freight per piece. On FHCH062 the same chair loads 400 stacked against 700 knocked down into one 40'HQ.

Table shapes and sizes in this range

Four table options, with the published dimensions and the set composition each one is sold with.

Table Shape Closed size Extended Height Chairs published with it Covers with a 60 cm setting
FHTB077 Round, fixed 120 cm diameter Not extendable 75 cm Sold as a table 4
FHTB097 Round, extendable 136.5 cm diameter 176 cm diameter 75 cm 4 or 6 chairs 4 closed, 6 extended
FHTB084 Rectangular, fixed 210 x 97 cm Not extendable Not published 6 chairs 6
FHTB068 Rectangular, extendable 220 x 122 cm 280 x 122 cm 74 cm Sold as a table 6 closed, 8 to 10 extended

The "chairs published with it" column is the set composition as it appears on the live product pages. The covers column is sizing guidance based on roughly 60 cm of table edge per person, not a published specification.

Matching chairs to tables by seat count

For the four common briefs, this is the combination that already exists in the range.

4

covers, compact terrace

FHTB097 round table at its 136.5 cm closed size with four FHCH073 rope-weave chairs. The published set is exactly this, and the table opens to 176 cm later if the site needs six.

6

covers, family or bistro

Two published routes: FHTB084 with six FHCH059 chairs as the seven-piece set, or FHTB097 opened to 176 cm with six FHCH073 chairs.

8

covers, restaurant row

FHTB068 extended to 280 cm with eight chairs. Pair it with the higher-loading chairs if the site is a busy one, and pick knock-down if freight per seat matters more than assembly time.

10

covers, long banquette line

FHTB068 at full 280 cm with ten chairs. Two of this table fit a 40'HQ at 160 tables per container on the table alone, so the chair choice is what sets the container count.

Four and six covers reflect set compositions published on the live pages. The eight and ten cover lines are sizing guidance and are quoted per project.

Six chair types in this range

Almost every brief lands on one of these six constructions. Each line links to the model that carries it.

Stacking armchair

FHCH062, FHCH063 and FHCH047 stack for seasonal storage. FHCH063 takes eleven chairs per stack, FHCH062 ten, and FHCH047 loads up to 1,200 chairs per 40'HQ stacked.

Knock-down armchair

FHCH052 and FHCH073-A1 pack flat. FHCH062 and FHCH063 are also offered in a knock-down build, which is where the container count rises sharply.

Rope-weave armchair

FHCH047 uses a dense curtain of thin vertical rope strands above the arms. FHCH059 has a rope weave back option and a textilene back option on the same frame.

Sling-seat dining chair

The FHCH059 sling build uses a flat taut grey fabric seat with no loose padded seat, which is the version to specify where seats are wiped down between covers.

Upholstered high-back

FHCH057, FHCH062 and FHCH063 all use tall padded backs. FHCH063 splits its back with a seam at about two thirds height, and both FHCH063 and FHCH057 adjust.

White aluminium frame chair

FHCH078 in round tube and FHCH079 with an aluminium slat seat and a removable pad. FHCH078 is about 3.95 kg per chair at 56.5 x 56.5 x 86.5 cm.

Every figure above is read from the live product data for this category. Where a page does not publish a value, the cell says so rather than carrying an estimate or a figure from an older model.

The frame: square tube, welds and the joint under the seat

The frame is the part a buyer keeps for years, so it is worth knowing what is welded, what is bolted and what the coating has to survive.

Close-up of an aluminium square tube frame joint and base connection on an outdoor chair
  • Square tube and round tube

FHCH063 and FHCH062 use square section, which reads as a straight, architectural line. FHCH047, FHCH078 and FHCH079 use round tube, including frames bent as one continuous tube per side so the armrest and the front leg are the same piece of metal.

  • Where the frame is welded and where it is bolted

The frame joints are welded and then powder coated, so the weld is covered by the same finish as the tube. FHCH062 and FHCH052 add slim stretcher bars or a longitudinal side rail under the seat frame to stop the legs splaying under load, and the underframe carries a support bracket on FHCH063.

  • What the powder coating has to resist

Finishes in this range are matt white on FHCH079, FHCH078 and FHCH047, matt dark charcoal on FHCH063, FHCH057 and FHCH062, and light grey on the two rope-weave sets. On a coastal or poolside site the coating is the first thing that chalks, so we quote the frame colour against the actual exposure rather than against a swatch.

  • Why the same chair comes in two builds

A stacking chair is welded as one rigid frame. A knock-down chair splits into parts that pack flat, which is what lets FHCH062 load 700 pieces instead of 400 into the same container. The trade is site assembly.

Rope weave, sling seats and how the back is built

Three different ways of closing a chair back, and the practical difference between them on site.

Close-up of evenly spaced vertical rope strands woven into an outdoor chair side panel
  • Vertical rope strands on FHCH047

A dense curtain of thin, evenly spaced, taut single-layer rope runs vertically up the back panel and rises above the arms. Because the strands are separated, the chair reads light against a terrace and does not block the view behind it.

  • Rope weave back or textilene back on FHCH059

The same chair frame is offered with a closely spaced rope weave back or a textilene back. Rope weave shows more texture and more depth; textilene is a flatter, more uniform surface that is easier to wipe down between covers.

  • Sling seat on the FHCH059 chair

The sling build uses a flat, taut grey fabric seat with no loose padded seat on top. Nothing lifts off, nothing has to be stored, and there is no wet cushion to deal with after rain.

  • Solid panel and slat backs

FHCH079 closes the back with one solid flat panel carrying a single horizontal slot. FHCH078 leaves the back open, with just two back posts and a horizontal top rail and no infill panel at all. FHCH063 splits its back with a seam at about two thirds height so the upper section can adjust.

Cushions, pads and the fabric that goes outdoors

Cushion construction decides how a chair looks in year three, and how much work it is between covers.

Close-up of a pale grey speckled outdoor cushion fabric with piped edge and frame tube
  • Four cushion types in this range

A loose removable seat pad on FHCH079, a piped seat and back cushion set on FHCH052 and FHCH073, a thicker speckled seat cushion with a rounded front edge on FHCH063, and a woven outdoor fabric over foam on FHCH057, where seat and full back are upholstered.

  • What the fabrics actually are

Mid grey heather with fine speckles on FHCH063, pale grey speckled fabric on FHCH078, light grey woven outdoor fabric on FHCH057, off-white piped cushions on the FHTB097 set, and a woven-textured light grey pad on FHCH079. None of them carry buttons or quilting, which keeps water from pooling in dimples.

  • How many cushions per chair

FHCH062 builds its tall back from two stacked cushions plus a separate seat cushion, so a chair is three pieces of upholstery. FHCH063 uses one seat cushion against an adjustable back. FHCH052 and FHCH073 use a seat cushion with a matching back cushion.

  • Why loose cushions matter to a contract buyer

Every cushion in this range lifts off. A damaged or stained cover is replaced on its own instead of writing off the chair, which is usually the difference between refreshing a terrace and replacing it.

Table top materials compared

Three top constructions are used across the dining tables in this range. They differ in how they look, how they drain and how they load.

Aluminium slat top

Used on FHTB068, with slats running the length of the table on a crossed X-frame base. Water drains between the slats, the table is light for its size at 45.5 kg gross, and it loads 160 tables per 40'HQ at an extended length of 280 cm.

PSPC board top

Used on FHTB084, a light grey board with fine parallel stripes running along the length, on X-shaped supports with a beam under the top. It is the solid-surface option: no gaps, so nothing small falls through, and the surface is uniform to wipe.

Radial slat top with centre insert

Used on FHTB077 and FHTB097. Slats radiate from the centre to the edge, and FHTB077 sets a large solid ivory disc about two fifths of the diameter flush into the middle. It is the most decorative of the three and the one most often specified for a visible terrace.

Packing and container loading, build by build

The same chair often ships two ways, and the container count moves with it. These are the published figures for the builds in this range.

Six chairs per carton

FHCH079: 77 x 58 x 110 cm, 0.491 CBM, 28.2 kg gross and 23.7 kg net, 870 chairs per 40'HQ.

One table per carton

FHTB068: 228.5 x 131.5 x 14 cm, 0.421 CBM, 45.5 kg gross, 160 tables per 40'HQ at 280 cm extended.

Two chairs per carton

FHCH062 knock-down: 85 x 35 cm footprint, 0.1934 CBM, 700 chairs per 40'HQ against 400 for the stacking build.

Three chairs per carton

FHCH078: 58 x 68 x 93 cm, 0.367 CBM, 17 kg gross and 15 kg net, 576 chairs per 40'HQ.

  • Stacked frames ship without individual cartons

FHCH063 puts eleven chairs on a stack and reaches 396 per 40'HQ. FHCH047 stretches that further still at 1,200 chairs per 40'HQ on the A1 build, or 1,020 on C1 and C2. The chairs arrive nested, so on-site storage is a stack in the corner rather than a wall of cartons.

  • Knock-down frames ship flat

FHCH062, FHCH063, FHCH052 and FHCH073-A1 all have knock-down builds. Flat parts mean more containers per chair but also smaller parts, which matters when the receiving site has a lift, a stair or a narrow service door to get through.

  • Carton volumes across the range

Chair cartons run from 0.096 CBM on FHCH073 to 0.491 CBM on FHCH079. Table cartons run from 0.323 CBM on the FHTB084 top to 0.469 CBM on the FHTB097 round table. Use the model guide above for the exact figure per model.

  • How the container is actually planned

We quote loading on the basis of chairs on one hand and tables on the other, because their cartons nest differently. A mixed order is planned so the heavy table cartons sit low and the chair stacks or flat cartons fill the remaining height rather than leaving an air gap at the doors.

Loading counts are per single model. A mixed chair and table container is planned against the actual ratio, because chair stacks and table cartons do not fill the space in the same way.

Customising a dining set: what can change and how it runs

OEM and ODM are published as available across this range. These are the four steps an order runs through, and the decision that has to be made at each one.

  1. 1

    Brief: covers, site and build

Tell us how many covers the site seats, whether the terrace is coastal, poolside or inland, and whether chairs will be stored between services. That fixes the table size, the chair model and whether the build should stack or pack flat before anything else is discussed.

  2. 2

Sample: frame colour, fabric and proportions

Custom frame colour and cushion fabric are published options on the models in this range, as are custom size and a custom logo. A sample lets you judge the powder coat and the fabric against the actual light on the site rather than against a screen.

  3. 3

    Production: one workshop, one finish

Frames are welded and powder coated as one batch so the colour does not drift between chairs, and upholstery is cut from a single fabric run for the order. Where a project needs a colour matched to a scheme, it is matched once and then used for every piece on the order.

  4. 4

Packing and export: cartons planned to the container

Packing follows the build: stacks for the stacking chairs, flat cartons for the knock-down ones, and single cartons for the tables. Loading is confirmed against the figures in the container table above, and the declared HS codes for the chairs and tables are already published on each product page.

Sample and production timing is quoted per project against the model, the fabric and the order size, so it is not stated here as a fixed number.

Where these chairs go to work

Three settings this range is specified into most often, from a private terrace to a full restaurant floor.

Scenes show this range in the settings it is specified into. The furniture is our own, so the frame, the rope weave and the cushion proportions are the ones you would receive.

Care, cleaning and seasonal storage

Outdoor dining furniture is usually judged after three or four seasons. These routines are what keep it serviceable that long.

Cleaning the frame and the seat

  • Wipe powder-coated aluminium and steel with mild soapy water and a soft cloth.
  • Rinse frames after use beside a pool or on the coast, where salt and chlorine sit on the surface.
  • Clean rope weave and sling seats with a soft brush and water rather than a pressure washer, which drives water into the weave.
  • Treat a scuff on the powder coat while it is small; a chip left open is where corrosion starts on a coastal site.

Cushions and seasonal storage

  • Take cushions and pads in when the furniture is not in use. Every cushion in this range lifts off by design.
  • Store cushions on edge rather than flat, so air moves around the foam and the fabric does not stay compressed.
  • Choose the stacking build where chairs have to be moved indoors or under cover between seasons, and the knock-down build where storage space is measured in cartons rather than stack height.
  • Re-check knock-down fasteners after the first weeks of use, then once a season.

Before the season starts

  • Check the fixings at the base and under the seat frame, especially on chairs that are moved frequently.
  • Check the table base fixings and the extension mechanism on the two extendable tables before the first service.
  • Check foam that has been in store: if a cushion does not spring back, the foam is what needs replacing, not the cover.
  • Keep a spare cushion set for the busiest covers so a stain never takes a chair out of service.

Replacing rather than rebuilding

  • Cushions and pads are separate items, so they can be reordered without the frame.
  • Cushion fabric and frame colour are customisable, which makes it practical to refresh a terrace in a new colour on the existing frames.
  • Because the range keeps the same models in production, an order placed later matches the chairs already on site.
  • Ask for a spare cushion set and a spare fixing pack with the original order; both are far harder to source two years on.

Tell us the terrace, and we will match the model

Send the setting, the seat count and the destination country, and we will come back with the frame material, the build, the carton plan and the 40'HQ loading for the models that fit. Custom colour, fabric and logo are available across the range, and the loading figures above are what the quote will be built on.

What to put in the enquiry

  • The covers you need to seat, and whether the site can take a 280 cm table.
  • The setting: villa terrace, hotel or restaurant, or courtyard.
  • Whether chairs are stored between services.
  • The frame colour and cushion fabric you are working to, if already decided.
  • The destination port and the container size you are planning.

Where this range gets specified

Most of what leaves the workshop goes into places that are used every day rather than once a season. The setting changes which model and which build we quote.

Family of four seated at a long outdoor dining table under a pergola at golden hour
Family seating Six covers under a pergola
Couple seated opposite each other at a round table beside a pool in the evening
Poolside Four covers beside water

Hospitality and contract

Restaurants, hotel terraces and clubs choose the sling build and the knock-down frame, because seats are wiped between covers and the site has to hold spares rather than whole chairs.

Coastal and poolside

Sites within sight of salt water want the aluminium frames and a colour that hides the first chalk of a powder coat. Frames should be rinsed after use, which is easier on a chair with removable cushions.

Courtyards and gardens

Stone courtyards and walled gardens take the radial slat top tables and the rope weave chairs, where the texture of the weave against stone is the reason the site was designed that way.

Made in our own workshop

Frames, weaving, upholstery and packing all happen in the same place, which is what makes a colour match across an order and a replacement two years later possible.

Inspector wearing gloves checking the frame joint of an outdoor chair with a steel rule and torque driver
  • Frames welded and coated together

A frame is welded and then powder coated as one piece, so the joint and the tube carry the same finish. That is why a welded joint does not read as a repair on the finished chair.

  • Rope woven by hand onto the frame

The vertical rope panels on the rope weave chairs are wound by hand onto the frame, strand by strand, which is why the spacing stays even around the curve of the side panel.

  • Checked against the sample

An order is checked against the approved sample before packing: frame colour, weave spacing, cushion dimensions and the build the customer confirmed. Chairs are inspected in the workshop rather than after the container is loaded.

  • Declared and documented for export

The chairs and tables carry published HS codes, and the declared description is stated on the product pages, for example outdoor, fabric, iron frame, upholstered, no brand. Nothing is added at the port that was not in the original specification.

What we check before a dining set ships

Six checkpoints sit between the last weld and the container doors. Each one exists because it is the point where a dining set most often fails in service.

  • The frame is checked for coating coverage at the joints and under the seat rail, not just on the visible tube.
  • The rope weave or sling back is checked for even spacing and tension across the full panel.
  • Seat and back cushions are checked for dimensions, compression and stitching against the approved sample.
  • Stacking chairs are stacked to the published count and checked for nesting and wobble.
  • Knock-down parts are trial assembled so the customer is not the one discovering a misfit.
  • Cartons are checked for corner protection and tape, then counted against the loading plan for the container.

What wears first, and in what order

On outdoor dining furniture the frame is usually the last thing to fail. Knowing the order of wear is how a budget gets spent in the right place.

Component What shows wear first What to do about it Which models use it
Loose seat cushion The cover, not the foam. Sun and cleaning both take colour out of a woven fabric long before the filling collapses. Take cushions in when not in use, and plan a replacement cushion order rather than a replacement chair. FHCH079 pad, FHCH062, FHCH063, FHCH073 and the set chairs
Powder-coated frame Small chips at the points where chairs meet the table edge or the floor, and a chalky surface on coastal sites. Touch in a chip while it is small, and rinse frames where salt and chlorine collect. Every chair and table in the range
Rope weave panel Dirt trapped in the weave rather than a broken strand, especially where the panel meets the armrest. Brush with water and a soft brush; never use a pressure washer on the weave. FHCH047, FHCH059 rope weave build
Sling seat Loss of tension on the seating surface after long daily use. Choose the sling build where the site needs no loose parts, and check tension at the start of each season. FHCH059 sling build
Table top Surface marks on the solid board top; nothing structural on the slatted tops because water drains between them. Wipe and dry rather than scrub, and keep the same table top construction across a terrace so an ageing top still matches. FHTB068 and FHTB077 slatted, FHTB084 PSPC board, FHTB097 radial slat
Table extension The mechanism and its fixings on the two extendable tables, because it is the only part that moves. Check and tighten the mechanism at the start of each season and before a busy period. FHTB068 and FHTB097

The component list comes from the published product data for this category; the order of wear is our recommendation based on how these constructions are used on contract sites.

How a dining chair order runs

Five steps from the first enquiry to a loaded container. Every step happens against the model, build and colour you confirmed.

  1. 1

    Enquiry and shortlist

Send the covers, the setting and the destination. We answer with the table size, the chair model and the build that fits, plus the container loading for that combination.

  2. 2

    Sample and approval

Where the project needs a custom colour, fabric or logo, a sample is approved before production. For a stock colour and fabric the model itself is the reference.

  3. 3

    Production in one batch

Frames are welded and coated as one run so the colour does not drift across a terrace, and cushions are cut from one fabric batch for the whole order.

  4. 4

    Inspection and packing

The six checkpoints above are walked before packing. Stacking chairs are packed as stacks, knock-down chairs flat, and tables in single cartons.

  5. 5

    Loading and shipment

Cartons are counted against the loading plan and the container is loaded so the heavy table cartons sit low. The declared description and HS code stay as published on each model.

Export codes and order minimums

The codes below are the ones published per model. They are what the declaration is built on, so a mixed order is quoted line by line.

Where a model does not publish a minimum order quantity, the order is quoted against the container plan rather than against a fixed piece count. Tell us the quantity and we will confirm what it loads as.

Packing and export logistics

How the pieces leave the workshop, and what to confirm with your forwarder before the container is booked.

  • Stacking chairs travel as nested stacks, so on-site storage is a stack in the corner rather than a wall of cartons.
  • Knock-down chairs travel flat, which is where the container count rises: FHCH062 loads 700 flat against 400 stacked.
  • Tables travel one per carton, with the slatted and board tops protected face to face rather than against the tube of another table.
  • Cushions and pads are bagged inside the chair carton rather than shipped loose, so nothing is separated in transit.
  • Mixed orders are loaded with the table cartons low and the chair stacks or flat cartons filling the height.
  • Confirm your forwarder's cut-off against the loading plan, because a mixed container is planned to the piece and not to the pallet.

Common questions from buyers

Eleven questions that come up in almost every quote for this category, answered from the published data on the live product pages.

What sizes do the outdoor dining chairs come in?

Published chair sizes are 56.5 x 56.5 x 86.5 cm on FHCH079, 58 x 64 x 84 cm on FHCH073, 59.5 x 64 x 79 cm on FHCH047, 56.5 x 68 x 105 cm on the FHCH063 knock-down build, and 56.5 x 69.5 x 105 cm on both FHCH062 and FHCH057. FHCH078 and FHCH052 publish their carton or ask for a size drawing instead.

Which chairs stack, and which knock down?

FHCH063, FHCH062 and FHCH047 stack. FHCH052 and FHCH073-A1 are knock-down, and FHCH063 and FHCH062 are offered in both builds. FHCH079 and FHCH078 are fixed frames that pack to six and three chairs per carton.

How many chairs fit in a 40'HQ?

FHCH047 reaches 1,200 stacked, FHCH079 lands 870, FHCH057 360, FHCH073 690 in the set build, FHCH078 576, FHCH063 396 stacked or 568 knock-down, and FHCH062 400 stacked or 700 knock-down.

Do the chairs come with cushions?

FHCH062 ships with two back cushions and a seat cushion, FHCH063 with a thick speckled seat cushion, FHCH073 with a padded seat and back, FHCH052 with piped seat and back cushions, FHCH078 with seat and back cushions, and FHCH079 with a removable seat pad. FHCH057 is upholstered over foam across the seat and the full back.

Can I order a table and chairs together?

Yes, two sets are already published: FHTB084 with six FHCH059 chairs as a seven-piece set, and FHTB097 with four or six FHCH073 chairs. The single tables FHTB068 and FHTB077 are also bought alongside chairs of your choice.

Are the frames aluminium or steel?

Aluminium covers FHCH063, FHCH047, FHCH052, FHCH078, FHCH079, FHCH073 and the table frames. Steel is used on FHCH057 in rectangular section and FHCH062 in square section, both powder coated in matt dark charcoal.

What table tops are available?

Aluminium slats along the length on FHTB068, a PSPC board top with fine parallel stripes on FHTB084, radial slats around a solid ivory centre insert on FHTB077, and round slats radiating from the centre with a raised rim on FHTB097.

Do you offer custom colours, fabrics and logos?

Yes. OEM and ODM are published across the range, with custom frame colour, custom cushion or pad fabric, custom size and custom logo stated as options on the chair and table pages.

What is the minimum order?

Published minimums are 360 chairs on FHCH057, 350 pieces on FHCH073-A1, and one 40'HQ of 160 tables on FHTB068. The remaining models are quoted against the container plan, so tell us the quantity you have in mind and we confirm what it loads as.

Which models suit a coastal or poolside terrace?

The aluminium frames are the usual answer, and on those sites the routine matters as much as the model: rinse frames where salt and chlorine collect, take the loose cushions and pads in when the chairs are not in use, and touch in a coating chip while it is small.

How are the chairs packed for export?

Stacking chairs travel as nested stacks without individual cartons, knock-down chairs travel flat in cartons, and tables travel one per carton. Cushions are bagged inside the chair carton, and cartons are counted against the loading plan before the container is closed.
