Frame and structure built around your canopy
A commercial umbrella stands or fails on its frame. Foris Hortus builds aluminium frames in four pole sections from 53 x 77 mm to 65 x 105 mm, with 10 x 18 mm or 12 x 18 mm ribs, crank, swivel, gas-spring and 360 degree rotation mechanisms, vented canopies, and four finishes including wood-grain thermal transfer. Structure type, section and mechanism are matched to the canopy size, the mounting and the wind exposure.

How to choose the right frame and structure
Four decisions define the frame: structure type, section, mechanism and finish. Fix them in that order and the canopy, base and packing follow.
Step 1: structure type
Centre pole, side pole or cantilever - decide from the layout and mounting.
Step 2: section and ribs
The pole runs through the table: bigger canopies need a heavier section and more ribs.
Step 4: finish and base
Frame finish and cast aluminium parts are matched, then the base is set.
1. Choose the structure type
Centre pole for table layouts, side pole for walkways, cantilever where the centre must stay clear.
2. Match section to canopy size
Wall thickness and rib size decide how much the frame flexes. Bigger canopy, heavier section.
3. Pick the opening mechanism
Crank for daily use, crank and swivel to follow the sun, gas spring for large canopies.
4. Choose the finish
Powder coat for any color, wire drawing for brushed metal, thermal transfer for wood grain.
Choose by situation
Do and avoid
Sizing a large canopy on a light section. The frame flexes, the canopy flaps and the ribs fatigue.
Approving a wood-grain finish from a catalogue image. Grain varies, so ask for a coated sample.
State the canopy size, mounting method and wind exposure together, so the section can be matched.
Confirm the opening height. Tall operators and bar-height tables change the mechanism choice.
Choose your specification
Every line is a selectable option. Send the combination you need with your enquiry.
A frame color matched on cast aluminium parts is offered above 500 pieces. MOQ is adjusted to your order volume.
From section to shipment
Send the layout
Canopy size, mounting method and wind exposure.
Frame confirmed
Section, ribs and mechanism agreed against the canopy.
Finish sample
Coated or wood-grain sample approved before production.
Production and packing
Documented QC, then cartons built to your requirement.
Frequently asked questions
Which pole section do I need? It follows the canopy size and the wind exposure: 53 x 77 mm for small to mid canopies, up to 65 x 105 mm for large or exposed installations. Send the canopy size and we confirm the section with the quotation.
Can a single frame take different canopy shapes? Yes. Round, square, rectangular and Roman canopies are built on matched frames, and the rib count is adjusted for the canopy size.
What is a gas-spring opening for? It takes the effort out of large canopies, typically 3 x 4 m and above, where a plain crank becomes hard to operate.
Is a wood-grain aluminium frame as strong as a plain one? The grain is a thermal-transfer finish on the same aluminium section, so the structure is unchanged.
Send the canopy size, structure type, mounting method and exposure, and we return a matched frame, mechanism and packing specification with a landed quotation.
